To appeal to wider audiences and accordingly to create a more inclusive image is now among the biggest goals of many brands in the fashion world. The problem that Victoria’s Secret had with the related issue had been going on for a few years. The brand has undergone a radical change process, emphasizing that it has made room for inclusivity by choosing Sofía Jirau with Down syndrome as a model last February.
This time, another innovation is coming. Darren Barnet, known from the TV series Never Have I Ever, appears as Victoria’s Secret’s first male brand ambassador. Barnet, who will also be responsible for the promotion of the Gender Free collection, which is based on supporting and empowering young people, said, “I am honored to join VS Pink as a brand ambassador. I will support initiatives to empower young adults and mental health awareness while helping to launch new styles in their gender-neutral collections.”
